| 2 May 2010 | Barnston | 2-7 | U15s Hawks | League |
Our longest journey of the season took us to Barnston where we faced a tough opposition and some interesting weather. The boys knew that anything less than our best would let Barnston's strong runners take control so a strong performance was needed.
the first half began with us playing into the wind and although playing some nice football we did not take our many chances early on, this allowed Barnston to build in confidence and following a long ball and a good save from Tony Barnston took the lead worse follwed and a similar move put us 2-0 down.after 25 minutes, this at last seemed to concetrate the efforts of the team and the ball was kept on the floor where we use it best. 5 minutes before half time a fine passing move and through ball by Arun sent James clear on the left and with loads to do he beat a couple of defenders to score a well taken goal from the edge of the box in the bottom corner. we maintained the pressure and were unlucky not to go ahead again when on a fine attack the referee blew 5 minutes early for half time the score Barnston 2 Hawks 1.
the second half got under way in a similar way but 5 minutes in some patient passing fed James 10 yards into the Barnston half he ran strongly through the defence to blast the ball into the top corner a great finish.from then on it was all Hawks with Ant running the Barnston defence all over the place. further goals were sure to come and come they did with Cameron scoring 2 great goals, Alex tucking away a rare left footed shot and James scoring 2 more to bring his total to 4 in the game quite amazing for a boy who scored is first and only goal ever a few weeks ago. The scorers were assisted by the whole teams passing and some great crosses from Jake.
A great 2nd half team performance giving us a 7-2 away win with James gaining the man of the match award.
