Match report

We travelled to Writtle for a game that began in thick fog and perhaps had been fortunate to survive the heavy rain the night before. Following a poor result in the cup the previous week the boys knew
the importance of bouncing back today and did not disappoint.

The play was mostly shared in the opening 10 minutes and the Hwaks were not making the most of their chances until Harrison scored the first following some poor goal keeping. Whether they dozed off is debatable but 3 minutes later Writtle had equalised and perhaps this gave the team a kick start for 1 minute later Charlie finished a great move that had built up with good work from Harry A, Anthony and Harrison. The game then settled down but on 22 mins Lewis burst through from central midfield and despite scuffing his shot beat the goalie for us to go 3-1 up. With time to kill the game off before half time the boys kept pressing and on 26 mins Anthony scored with a fluked cross which somehow ended up in the net - they all count !!

The 2nd half was more evenly balanced and neither team asserted themselves. The score went to 5-1 on 43 with an own goal conceded from a tricky cross made by Anthony. With not long to go Writtle pulled one back but by then 3 points were in the bag. Not our best performance of late but to get the win and plenty of confidence back was hugely important for the upcoming games.

Well done team !

The score was 5-2.
