Match report

The first game of the season got underway a little late as the ref had forgoten his watch. He soon was prepared and Hannikins Farm kicked off. It was a great game of football and a battle for both teams. Terriers welcomed back Ross in goal who had strapped his fractured finger well up. Laiton started at left back and Jack in the centre with Tristan at right back. These 3 defenders had a brilliant game and 'wanted' everything. Josh was holding the midfield together infront of the back 3 and Steve and Charley were operating as wingers leaving Mark behind Striker Callum.
Both teams had chances in the first half but it was hannikins who played a ball over the top that was well controled by the Farms striker and he despatched on about 20mins. Terriers closest effort was a scrable that just did not go in after 2 corners from Steve and Mark.
The half came and the match was still in the balance at 0-1.
The early stages of the 2nd half saw a bit of controversey as it appeared that the ref had pointed to the spot for a penalty for a barge in the box. The ball went out for a corner and although pointing at the spot the ref then changed his mind and gave only a corner. A let off!!!
With 15mins remaining Regan replaced the ever hard working Callum and within minutes the substitution had paid off. A forward ball by Josh found Charley who was close to being off side but the lino did not give it and Charley pulled the ball back for Regan to tap into the empty net.1-1.
The game was tight for the last 10 minutes when Jimmy was introduced to freshen up the team with Tristan making way. Josh sat back at right back and although Hanikins had more of the pressure the Terriers looked like they may break and nick the points.
The ref finally blew for fulltime and both teams started with a point.
The player of the match award had to go to a defender after the much improoved game they had and it was given to Laiton who performed really well at left back. The score was 1-1.
