Match report

Terrific Terriers Trounce Mayland Four - Nil

The Terriers played well to win their first league game of the season on Sunday.

After a scrappy start, they settled well with Callum unlucky not to score.  James O finally breached the opposition defence with a clever lob from the edge of the area to put The Terriers 1 – 0 up (13mins). The led to further domination and a tenacious well taken goal by Charlie B on 15 minutes, the result of some wonderful one touch football. The half time whistle was welcome respite for Mayland as Focus Ferriers were getting close to wrapping up the game with a well deserved third goal.

The second half started with The Terriers desperate not to repeat last weeks’ experience. Superb tackling back by Ed on the right and the aerial domination of Man of the Match Brandon snuffed out any ideas the opposition may have had of a comeback.  To everyone’s relief Charlie T poked in a poacher’s goal after 5 minutes and ten minutes later made it 5 goals in 2 games when he rounded the goalie and put the match beyond doubt.

The individual battles all over the pitch were by now being won by the lads in terriers shirts and the score could have easily doubled before the end.

The whistle signalled the end of the game just a Steve D pulled a tremendous shot just wide.

A wonderful performance and 3 precious points. Let’s hope the team can build on this and really prove themselves in the next match against Writtle Minors next Sunday.

The score was 4-0.
