Match report
An evening game in glorious sunshine against our local rivals was the perfect setting. We are at a crucial time of the season and with the games coming thick and fast, the boys needed to be at their best.Woodham were up for the challenge and started the game very well. They were strong in the tackle and beating us to the second ball. They had a few chances and it looked as though we were in for a tough evening. After about 10 mins we settled into our flow and were starting to control the game.We had numerous chances with Joe Turpin coming closest after hitting the bar with a cracking shot.Zack,George A and James also came close and we hoped that all the missed chances were not going to come back and bite us.We continued to press and with us getting closer and closer ,it was left to Zack in the second half to put us 1-0 up.We couldnt stop there and Woodham were stopped a certain equaliser by the excellent Jack Stoker in goal, stepping in for the injured Jordan Cleary. The defense of Matthew Hall,George Payton,Luke Duchars and Joe Royce were excellent. The midfield of Ben Mears,James Graham,James Griffiths,Jack Wiseman and Zack Fleming played some good strong football and George Ashley and Joe Turpin upfront were working hard and causing problems. We did have further chances with Joe Turpin and George Ashley hitting the woodwork. It ended 1-0 ,well done boys.Man of the Match went to the hard working George Payton. The score was 1-0.
