Match report

At last the week had arrived and the grand final v Heybridge at Burnham stadium. With the early kick off ,we had to leave bright and early and we hoped the boys were ready for a good battle against a very good side.We arrived in plenty of time and a few of the boys were letting the nerves get to them with a few visits to the toilet being nessasary. We settled into the changing room, put on some music and this helped calm everyone down.Onto the game and the boys looked the part in the new sky blue kits,we just needed the performance to go with it.We couldnt have started any better. From the kick off George Ashley put the ball through to James Griffiths and he shot just wide.We had all the pressure throughout most of the first half ,but were starting to think it might not happen, especially when Heybridge hit the post and also had another cleared. We had chances of our own and went close on a number of occassions. We settled the boys again for the second half and continued to play very well as a team. The defense of Jordan Cleary(in goal)George Payton,Luke Duchars,Matthew Hall and Joe Royce were excellent and once again didnt conceed a goal. The midfield of Ben Mears,James Graham, james Griffiths and Jack Stoker were also strong and solid and starting to frustrate the Heybridge team by not letting them have time on the ball.George Ashley and Zack Flemming were also strong upfront and boxing the Heybridge team well back in their half. The subs of Dominic Townrow,Jack Wiseman and Joe Turpin all played very well when coming on and helped the team produce a good performance.at 0-0 we thougt we were heading for extra time, but the ball fell to George Ashley outside the area ,he decided to have a go and it looped over the Heybridge keeper and into the net. What a goal, the crowd and the management went mad.1-0 is how it was to stay and Focus lift the cup.Very well done boys, Glen and Dave are so proud.

The score was 1-0.
