This was the quarter finals of the league cup and the winners would have the luxury of a double header semi final in Feb 09.Maldon Saints were our visitors and although we had beaten them well in the early part of the season,we knew they were a good side and they had their very good goalkeeper back in action. From the start we were on the attack and started to play some excellent passing football, the balls to the wings were very good and the wingers in Jack Wiseman and James Graham were getting forward well and producing some excellent crosses.Maldon did however have a few chances on the break and were unlucky not to score themselves.Although we had alot of pressure ,we couldnt put the ball in the back of the net and chance after chance was going begging. The opening goal was a very well taken free kick ,over the head of the goalkeeper and a very good goal by Jack Wiseman to make it 1-0.Thats how it stayed at half time.Pick of the performances was Ben again in midfield,Zack for some excellent passing,George ,james and Jack W,for creating chances. At the back ,Luke was very good along with George and Matthew. At half time we spoke of the need to convert more of the chances and score a few more goals.Changes at half time meant that Dan was introduced along with Cameron in goal and Dominic upfront.Chances continued to rain on the Maldon goal.George A finished well to make it 2-0,then a good follow up by Dominic made it 3-0,The goals panel sat to decide if George could claim the next one and as it was on target and just going in before the defender sliced the ball ,he made it 4-0.Jack Stoker had a very good solo effort to score the fifth and Jordan hit a stunner to make it 6-0.The team had played superb and James was unlucky not to score after hitting the framework on three occassions.Man of the Match went to the very good Luke Duchars,he ran for the whole game and attacked the Maldon team with confidence and strength.Team.Jordan Cleary,Matthew Hall,Joe Royce,George Payton,Luke Duchars,Daniel Howard,Ben Mears,James Graham,Jack Stoker,Jack Wiseman,Cameron Gray,Zack Flemming,Dominic Townrow and George Ashley.
