Match report
This was our first experience of the county cup .It was going to be a tough game against Valence from Dagenham. They arrived at around 11.00am .The boys were relaxed and looked up for a battle, even though they had a very big team. From the off you good see they were solid and had some very good players. The first half progressed with some very strong challenges and it wasnt long before Jordan in goal had to be replaced ,following a strong tackle from the Valence frontman.Other injuries to Joe,Zack,James and Ben didn't stop the boys battling.Cameron replaced Jordan and did very well indeed.Half time and it was 0-0 ,with a very good performance from the whole team.Chances for both teams in a very open game. The defense had their best game as a unit and were so good and strong in all departments. The second half started with Valence pushing forward and they had a few chances ,but we had caught them on the break a few times and had chances of our own.We had brought on Dominic who was playing well and creating chances ,Jack Wiseman had a couple of good spells and Luke and Daniel were very strong in the tackle.Valence out of the blue were awarded a penalty that seemed alittle harsh ,certainly a 50-50 from were i was standing. They converted 1-0 to Valence. That didnt stop us and we pushed and pushed until a very good corner from George A was headed on well by Dominic the ball came out and James finished well to level the score.1-1 with about 10 mins to go ,just as the celebrations stopped ,Valence broke free and scored a second.2-1 and with time running out we needed something good.It came from excellent work from James on the right ,a good run and cross ,George met the header ,but it went wide. Then in the last few minutes ,Zack burst his way through again and hit a shot against the bar.It wasnt to be and it finished 2-1 to Valence.Outstanding performances for Matthew,Joe ,Zack and Ben,who all showed how strong they are and how to play against a big team. But man of the Match went to the superb George Payton who was simply outstanding from start to finish. The score was 1-2.
