Match report

This week was a cold and wet game in the league cup at Maldon Town.Maldon was a game that alot of the boys were looking forward to ,as they have friends in the same school.The game started with Maldon on the attack and the defense were coping well with what they had to offer.After only about 10 mins George Payton was injured and we had to reshuffle at the back.The defense of Joe Royce,Luke Duchars,Matthew Hall and Daniel Howard were protecting Jordan very well and he was coping well and producing some excellent balls to the midfield and the two forwards.The midfield of James Graham,Ben Mears,Jack Wiseman and Jack Stoker were getting more and more into the game and starting to take control,producing some good runs and passing through balls to the front men.George Ashley and Zack Fleming were working hard upfront and really doing well in flicking the ball on for the other to run onto.It was half way through the first half when we broke the deadlock ,it was a ball through to Zack who once again finished so well ,to lob the keeper and put us in front.Half time,1-0 up.We introduced Dominic Townrow in the second half and he produced some of the runs that we had been missing.James was switched to the left and he opened up the defense to produce some good service for the forwards.The two upfront were now stopping everything and Ben in midfield done an excellent job containing the midfield.We needed the second goal and it came in the form of James Graham.A good cross from the right and James met the ball well with a good left foot half volley.2-0 and we now started to flow.2-0 became 3-0 with another cool finish from Zack.With that Maldon started to come forward and scored a goal from a well taken free kick.We were not finished yet, a good ball though from Ben was met by George,who run through and finished well into the net with his left foot.Ben completed the scoring with an excellent shot from the edge of the area.Final score 5-1 ,a great win and we are now into the second round of the cup.Good performances from everyone today especially from both Georges,Joe,Ben,Jack S.Man of the Match for an excellent solid performance through the whole game ,was to Matthew Hall. The score was 5-1.
